If you follow me on Twitter or are the sort to read my work, you probably already heard about this. But in the event you haven't, apparently Atlus probes my brain while I'm asleep, has crawled into my head and decided to make the exact game I have been wanting all my life. It's like Murakami had a baby with Persona and yeah please let this come out here.

I know you're not big comics person, but have you ever read Neil Gaiman's The Sandman? If you haven't i suggest you do. Don't worry, its is not a superhero book. It deals with many of the issues of the Persona series in a somewhat similar fashion. Watching this trailer reminds very much of things Gaiman did.
Gaiman's stuff reminds me of the coolness of the 90s and how that all went to hell at the end of the decade for about 10 years.
Upside: PS3 isn't region-locked, right?
Robert: I've read it.
Steve: It's not, but I think sometimes the games are.
That's the exact same response my brother and I had to Catherine: Atlus is making a game based on Haruki Murakami's Dance Dance Dance and/or A Wild Sheep Chase. Or close enough.
As for the idea of this getting localized... well, it's Atlus. Atlus USA is the game publisher equivalent of a little artisanal butcher shop that sells to a very small and knowledgeable clientele. They know there's a (relatively small) market of gamers in the states who will go nuts for this thing.
Can't remember the last "main" Atlus game that wasn't localized.
Definitely interested in this one. Found out about it just yesterday.
That it's on the 360 is a big tell that they're going to localize it, I think.
Hopefully it'll be out in the US in spring/summer; I can't wait!
Damn, game looks amazing...
EVERYTHING looks amazing.
I'm a little concerned though... Will they really take the risk and use a good story or will they just use a "good-for-game-standards" story.... ?
Still... it made me wish for a PS3 or 360.
PS: Love the lamb-cosplay of the main chara ; P
I've seen it a couple times and all I can say is "please please please please please please please please"... etc.
Want.
There's another thing that gets my psyched, but which was somehow strangely never mentioned in the early coverage of the game:
The little thing in the beginning of the trailer that reads "Studio 4ÂșC".
In case you're not familiar with it: It's an Anime-studio that has created much of the most innovative work in that sector in the last few years... I'm not really that much into Anime, but check out movies like "Mind Game" or the "Genius Party" omnibus-movies.
Midnight Eye nailed it by writing:"Their best work is like having a time machine open in your TV set and show you what animation will evolve into in a couple of decades."
Just the icing on the cake that already looks delicious enough!
Looks great!
BTW I picked up P3P after reading one of your posts. Now I'm addicted.
I have to think... they wouldn't have dropped that Catherine teaser into the club in P3P if they weren't intending on releasing it here, right? That'd just be CRUEL.
I would buy this now. Looks awesome and weird and very entertaining. The influence of Gaiman, Murakami, Persona - all of these wold make for an awesome game.
If this was any other company but Atlus, I'd be worried that they wouldn't release it over here. But considering that they release everything, I believe, including the odd piece of dreck they make, I feel confident that we'll see this.
Which makes me fell all warm and fuzzy.
With my admittedly limited understanding of Japanese . . . this looks like Dance Dance Dance the video game. Sign me up!
I just started playing Persona 3 after hearing about it from your articles, by the way, and have been up until 2 AM every night for around a week and a half. Not an accusation - a sincere thank you! It's an amazing game that I cannot stop playing. Thank you for writing about it and spreading the word!
