So I always go into E3 expecting not to get my ass kicked and I always do. So this year, I'm erring on the side of assuming I'll be busy or hung over all the time.
That being said, I hope to meet a lot of people out there, so if you are in the SVGL Army and you're going to be there, say hi to me and to each other. I got a lot of mails that I should have arranged a meetup of some kind, and I was so busy getting ready with scheduling and stuff for all the work we've gotta do that it never occurred to me. Maybe next year.
Anyway, I've added a new poll to see what you think the biggest deal out of next week's gonna be. Discuss and all that fun stuff!

Erm, the infamous Bombcast (since everyone else is talking about it) I finally got to listen to some of it the other day. I've been living in a technological ghetto for a few years due to my desktop dying and not having the money to fix it. Was rocking my trusty and ancient Win 98 laptop for a few years. Giant Bomb was one of the many websites that kept crashing my poor machine.
I enjoyed what I've heard so far and thought you carried yourself rather well. Remember last year you were mortified about it??
E3 I "want" it to be about the surprises but in these days of leaks and broken NDAs. The cynic in me says that there's not going to be anything that really blows me away. But you never know?
3D the little boy (and AV geek) in me wants it to succeed. Jetpacks and flying cars must also just be around the corner! Gaming will be a large deciding factor, but glasses free tech and "content" will be the real catalysts for consumer interest. It's just too soon to make a judgement whether the tech will sink or swim. 3D@E3 doesn't really float my boat, next years CES does.
Natal and Move got my vote in the poll, Microsoft has the most legwork to do to convince me. I'm quite fond of the wii and have a decent collection of core games so the idea of the Move is not a big transitional leap and thus an easy sell for me.
Natal is still an abstract concept for me. Beyond "Mylo" all MS has shown so far is mini games, the youtube video of the flailing family has not done any favours in easing my trepidation.

All my Expo Experiences (not E3 - rather worlds largest book fair - Frankfurt, Germany) about Hangovers and Parties, with people I've met there. Writers drink! That's what we do.

I normally like to hear a girl talk about games, I think there are too few in the gaming press.
But I've never heard anyone (boy or girl) act that rude and disrespectful on a podcast before...
You were so disrespectful I thought it was necessary to contact your blog... this is something very strange, you did the same thing last year and you even apologized for it this year (I really appreciated that apology, the podcast last year was terrible) but you STILL went on and make the same mistakes again. It's clearly something you can't control. You need to see someone for this. Follow some relaxation classes, do some yoga, maybe see a psychologist. Or just start your own podcast and learn how to let the conversation flow without interjecting yourself into every aspect.

Hey...since you closed the comments on your most recent post, I'm going to comment here. I listened to a little bit of cast last night and found you annoying, but tonight I've been drinking and I'm listening to the podcast and enjoying it...and the point is: drunk people are always fucking annoying if you're not drunk. I don't know if the people who were bitching about you, Leigh, have never been drunk...but they need to settle down and get some perspective. I heard a shitload of cans cracking open during the cast and I've been around drunk people enough and been drunk myself enough to know that this podcast should NOT be listened to if you're sober and you should not judge people when they're drunk as though they're like that all the time. Gamers are uptight sometimes...which I think comes from their hobby being treated with such condescension and them being dudes whose lives haven't gone the way they hoped. Anyway...in summation, everybody settle the fuck down...Leigh Alexander is a sweet, charming person whose personality is amplified times 100 when she's been drinking (which is part of the fun, by the way) just like is the case with most other people (myself included) and that can be a bit much when you're sober and exposed to that...just have a beer and settle down...you're over 21...your mother hopefully won't mind...if you're going to comment on Leigh, you need to read a whole bunch of her other posts and see that she's a smart, rad person. But also: fuck you, Leigh I'm from Massachusetts and the Boston Celtics are my religion :) I don't care about the Red Sox (baseball is boring) but the Celtics ARE basketball. My question to you: WHY are you not sorry about the bombcast? That was atrocious. You can pull the "female" card -- I don't care about that. I love plenty of game journalists who happen to be girls.
Let me make my position clear: the 800+ comments saying "fuck Leigh Alexander" in the bombcast comment thread are unwarranted. On the other hand, you were annoying as all hell, and were being just so on twitter to flamers. I dunno why you think you're above all of us, when clearly, we're no more obnoxious than you were.
Also, to the criticism on people not reading about Leigh before insulting her: I was actually annoyed with her writing too. She's talented on some level, obviously, but everything that most assumed about her in the drunkcast (loud, obnoxious, self-centered) is the same as you'll find in her writing. Just so you know where I'm coming from. Choose to ignore me, choose not to. I'm just being as honest as I can.

I have a girlfriend, a best friend who is a girl, and work with more women than men. I also respect a number of female writers and journalists, but you're unprofessional behaviour was unacceptable.
Don't play the "I'm a girl, you're all nerds who can't get laid" card. It's pathetic and as lame as the personal attacks on you. So is the "I was drunk!" excuse. Grow up. Don't drink so much and don't blame the alcohol. It's not excuse.
Nobody should attack you PERSONALLY for this. I mean your personality IS annoying, but you shouldn't be called a "slut" or anything like that. But seriously, don't be so pretentious and assume everyone has to stop and listen to you. And that $775 million comment. Blaming it on dyscalculia is stupid. I know people with learning difficulties, but they can still be reasoned with. If you stopped for ONE second and LISTENED you would have come to your senses.
Listen to the Giant Bomb guys one day. Really listen. They're professionals who still know how to have a good time and respect their guests while getting loud and cracking jokes. You could learn a lot from them.

for crying out loud. making it known that you don't like someone's appearance on the GB podcast is one thing... following them home to keep insulting them is quite another. give it a rest. why the hell aren't you guys airing your grievances on the GB forums?
To comment above, people are coming here for three reasons:
1) To communicate directly with Leigh
2) She has labelled anyone that has anything negative to say about her performance as sad losers, so she has to expect retaliation
3) If she didn't want hear from the GB community DON'T GO ON THE BOMBCAST!
