I've already pointed out how much I like Meat Bun's T-shirts. I've been loving their newer ones, the DX Line, and getting a lot of wear out of the ones I've got, so I thought I'd indulge in some long-overdue pimpage.Honestly, being a "G4/X\3|2" isn't something I tend to like to advertise in the traditional sense. Yes, I do, in fact, still own the launch-day FFVII shirt I got as a preorder gift from some retailer or other, but I'm a little embarrassed wearing that out in public. My Assassin's Creed 2 shirt was a cozy wear for the long flight home from E3, but I'm not wearing it out to the bar either.
But I totally love this particular "Fight Night" shirt -- yeah, it's a Street Fighter shirt, but it's so subtle that only fellow geeks can tell you're not simply super-fashionable. It always gets a ton of compliments when I wear it out and about, and it actually looks good on me, unlike XXL Unreal Tournament tees. If you've never checked out the new line, you totally should.

Also, I am promoting two items of clothing here, actually -- I'm not really sure why I got in the mail these high-tech specs from Gunnar Optiks, but hey, here we are, and I'm telling you about them because I feel guilty not having paid for 'em. They are apparently worn by professional musicians and people with names like "DJ Rocky Rock"?
I don't even wear prescription lenses, but my eyes really suffer from spending so much time a day on the laptop working. These are supposed to help prevent eyestrain. I guess I'll have to wear them daily for a while to see if there's really an effect or not, but they are comfortable and I think they look kinda cool.
Done shilling for now, I swear. Seriously, though, there are plenty of geek clothes out there, but when are we going to see more labels and retailers getting on board with geek fashion? Let's just pretend I am starting a "not brushing hair" trend, while we're at it.

That is a fantastic mumpy face in the first picture. In an adorable way, not an "ew, she must have mumps" way. :)
"mumpy?" what the fuck is that supposed to mean, and how is that supposed to be "adorable?"
I'm bummed that the red version of the "Raw Street Fighting" shirt is sold out in my size.
Another source of "game fashion" is Triumvir, who has been specifically making inroads into the Street Fighter community but also has a non-gaming line.
Which shirt came first, that one or the Olly Moss design for SuperCombo? http://supercombo.bigcartel.com/product/one-night-only
Two things...
I don't own any wearable gamer gear, and the only item that could identify me as such in public is a little mint tin that looks deceptively like a NES controller which I sometimes keep my smokes in. Games are cool, but I've only ever found the most subversive, obliquely video-gamey attire attractive.
The other thing is... perhaps a little creepy, but here I go regardless: you look really good with your hair back!
Let us know how the shades work out—I spend most of my life pointed at a glowing rectangle that attacks my retinas. If they work, you say so and I buy some, you become an official tastemaker. Badge and everything.
I would buy the Meat Bun tee but their UK shipping rates are extortionate. Sniff.
This is my favorite gaming wear:

It's gamey AND intellectual! ^^
I own three Katamari Damacy t-shirts (the ostrich, the elephant, and the gold foil castle), although the key selling point for me was that the pictures of the shirts were accompanied by comments from the designers expressing how profoundly uninterested they were in Katamari.

Also, Leigh, while the glasses do look cool, I'm not convinced that they're gonna help your eyes. Please be careful.
oh really? do you know much about these kinds of glasses? could they hurt?
/scared
No, sorry for being an alarmist. My comment was based on total ignorance of these kinds of glasses. I'm just generally suspicious about products that claim health benefits. Actually from the very, very quick internet search I just ran it sounds like they're either good for you or harmless. Consumer Reports doesn't seem to have reviewed them yet.
Gotta say, this is still my absolute favorite:

I doubt your eyes are that bad. I've spent a lot of time in front of the PC for all these years and the only damage is the reaction to bright lights but they haven't gone misty yet :D
Well, "mumpy", as in the mumps, which causes a droopy swelling of the cheeks.
Kind of like a rabbite or Guilty Gear's May after being defeated.
Is compliment! Really... >.>
do women hit you a lot?
So when's Jinx gonna tap you for their next magazine ad?
At the risk of outing myself as "that dude," I liked some of the Portal shirts for not being immediately recognizable as video game shirts. The Cube tee could almost be mistaken for something a band put out if you didn't play video games.
I own the Shadow of the Colossus shirt from that Meatbun store. It's super subtle, fun, and looks and feels good.
I've also been keeping my eye on some of the items from the Valve store. The dealbreaker in my book is a noticeably set-apart game logo, though... which has ruled out some nice TF2 shirts.
I'm particularly concerned with being somewhat fashion savvy and I find gaming apparel doesn't usually fit in that category. However, I'm feeling those Street Fighter shirts. I think I'll be picking up the SF shirt in both yellow and red.
While I'm thinking about it check out this site: http://www.triumvir3.com/
They have collections inspired by games, most recently Street Fighter and Blazblue. The Street Fighter collection had this limited edition M-65 military jacket that was H-O-T! Sold out now, at least in my size... ='(
Seriously though, check them out.
No, but apparently it's a trend I'll inevitably be starting... :(
I have a great Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons T-shirt that was given out as a preorder bonus. (I didn't actually preorder, but the store had extras.)
Gaming-inspired webcomics are often a good source of interesting t-shirts...
Everybody needs a t-shirt or two. But not too many. That's a good one to have as one of the one or two. But, seriously-- the best game-related clothes I've seen recently = the dope cardigan that dude 360 avatars can wear. It's a cardigan! <3
Shout out to Squidfire (local Baltimore t-shirt makers!)http://squidfire.com/index.cfm

Gamers don't have to wear shirts that identify them as a gamer - wear a shirt that makes you look cool!
(I don't work for these companies, seriously, I just think they're awesome :)
Stylish. 8)
See, if gaming fashion really wants to take off, they need to branch out past t-shirts. I know I'm still waiting for my Portal Polo and my Henry Hatsworth topcoat...
I am joining you in the not-brushing fashion statement. It adds both volume and style.
I own a few gaming T-shirts, and I'm very happy with them all. I was given a Wipeout Pure T-shirt by a mate at Sony as bed-wear (It's in XXL!) and I suggest that you do the same with your UT-shirts! ;)
Also, I have a limited edition official Shadow of the Colossus jacket which doesn't fit me at all. Still love it.
Also, "mumpy"? I lolled significantly at both the implication and the reaction! The shirt looks great on you and the expressions are funny.
^ha. Yeah, love the measelsish, mumpy, and rubellaesque expressions. :P
i know, i feel really attractive knowing that my cheeks are at their most swollen and droopy.
Actually, I've never had any gaming wear so far, but this is just awesome:

I hope it arrives in my tiny country before I start teaching at the university this fall.
They have "geek fashion" t-shirts over at Uniqlo here in Singapore. They look nice, and are subtle enough to pass off as art. The ones at Pokemon 151 are artsy too.
