Thanks MJ

Should you wish for a video game-themed way to remember the King of Pop, I recommend the soundtrack to his utterly peculiar Genesis game, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. 16-bit covers of all of his hits? Awesome.

Here it is [via Mediafire]. Thanks to the numerous Twitter friends who pointed me to a good link.

In related news, Hardcasual reminds my colleagues not to be douches about somebody's death on Twitter, MTV's Russ Frushtick finds an old commercial for Moonwalker, and remembers that he was in Space Channel 5, too.

It was peculiar, wasn't it? Shinobi-esque platforming with added dancing alsatians. Thanks for the soundtrack, I've always liked it.

Thanks for that Leigh, Michael is and will always be the King of Pop, and one of my favorite musicians of all time....He will live on through his music and and this game, as well as others, forever

The biggest pop star ever and the biggest media circus freak of all time. It's a strange legacy, but he changed the face of music and he brought dance back to popular culture after it laid dormant for some time. R.I.P.

That Hardcasual article is pretty funny, but I don't really get the moratorium on criticism that some prefer (expect?) when a famous person dies. A person's death is a good time to reflect on their accomplishments and behaviors in life, and for controversial public figures these reflections are going to be negative as well as positive. I realize that "lol @ dead child molester" is hardly a thoughtful criticism, but then again it's no more or less banal than "king of POP i love your music RIP Michael." I could do without either, but as long as there's one there will be the other.

But whatever, he was an incredibly bizarre fellow, and as I was too young to experience his chart-topping days, it's his bizarrity that I'll remember him for.

You can expect jokes like that for months. It happened with Steve Irwin, and now the torch has been passed to the King of Pop. As long as celebrities can die, there will always be an asshole waiting to make a cheap joke at their expense. I'd actually expect better of game journalists (no offense).

I'm sure those hardcasual folks are good guys, but that article just came off as really self-righteous. I guess they've never made a tasteless joke before?

@ Jason: Couldn't put it better myself. I expected better from people who worked at Destructoid or 1up.com. Why game journalists wish to show off their so-called wit with tasteless jokes just for a bunch of website hits is beyond me.
