Have you seen the redesign rolled out at my stomping grounds of Gamasutra? Finally, we're out of the mid-nineties and have finally achieved "a little bit more millennial."
One awesome thing I wanted to make sure you guys saw was that we've got blogs over there now. What's especially exciting to me is that Gamasutra will now feature expert blogs written by developers, many of whose written work you've already read floating around little disparate nodes of the internet. I highly recommend keeping 'em on your radar as the section develops.
It's a great way for devs to chat amongst themselves and share ideas, but the bonus is we all get to read it, too. The reason I started Sexy Videogame Developerland a few months ago was to offer gamers an opportunity to get to know devs a little bit better as human beings, so I'm really happy that there's another, more detailed and visible way on offer at my other internet-home. I still hope to be adding little bios to SVGDL, and I have a handful on queue that I haven't been able to get to yet that I'm still looking forward to adding -- thanks to everyone who's submitted, and sorry for the delay!
We've also got a members section on Gamasutra where any user can share thoughts on design, development and the industry, so if you've got something to say, def check it out, yeah? Hope you all like.

I'll surely be keeping my eye on the developer blogs. Hopefully, I'll get some good reading out of them as they expand. I also like the new layout as well.

When I saw the redesign, my first two thoughts were "Sweet! RSS feeds!" and immediately after that, "Sweet! Blogs!" It would be kinda nice if the expert and member blogs had separate feeds, or (even better) if they were flagged in the feed as expert or member. I love the idea of having it open to all members and also singling out some trusted sources though. I've been enjoying the inside perspective on development at Gamasutra for some time now, and this redesign makes it even better.
Julian, we're planning separate feeds for expert and member blogs - haven't quite got it set up yet, though!

While I appreciate the new content, the redesign is...busy. When I saw it, I said, Gama's been 1up'd; a friend said, Gama's been Myspace'd. It fits the general trend for Web 2.0 redesigns. =(
Leigh, can you convince them to make an RSS feed of the expert blogs page? I'd love to easily follow all of the expert posts. Thanks!
It's like coming home and seeing your girlfriend moved around all the furniture. Will have to get used to it.
RSS feeds = awesome;
Expert blogs = super awesome
I'm glad they made the effort to redesign, but it's very cluttered and visually demanding... Emerald green on near-white is a stand-out color combination, but it's used so often and in such close proximity that it draws viewer attention everywhere and nowhere. Ack!
Anyway, sorry to dive into design tangents every time I comment. D:
Time to catch up on my Gama reading!
Off topic: Who's the character in the new site logo picture? One of the girls from the Onechanbara series?
About time they redesigned it, the old site was rather unintuitive. The new one's home page is far too cluttered with its 3+ columns, but the sections are much nicer and navigation is overall easier.
This is nice.
I found the old site so clumsy in its design that the only way I was going there was if I was linked to an article from somewhere else or if I searched something on Google and the site appeared in the search results.
Now this is going in my morning readings :)
Except that I agree with some of these comments, it still a bit loaded or compressed. If the guys are still making modifications I would certainly suggest to make the site a little large, a little lighter on the eye. Now it seems optimized to fit perfectly a 800*600 resolution in width. Most of us have a resolution higher than 1280 and generally widescreen.
So to me it seems kinda condensed in the middle of the screen but hey, it's already way better than before.
