Good choice, you coy thing. ;)

So I guess this means no more Leigh for the next weeks? (months? (years?)).

No GTAIV for me. I'll be hanging with The World Ends With You for the rest if this week. Besides the horrible, horrible battle system, the game is quite good. I'm in the fourth day.

Also, maybe you know this already because you're a pokémon fan, but you'll be able to download Darkrai from Pokémon Ranger 2 as you can do to get Manaphy from the first one. Way to make people play bad games.

But... but... what about the DLC?

I'm going with the PS3 version too, but I'm a little nervous about the problems people are having with the 60GB model, so I may wait until it's addressed by Rockstar. Plus, I'm seriously wrapped up in The World Ends With You right now - I can't stop playing now, even for GTA.

Yeah, I guess I need DLC because the 100+ hours it ships with aren't enough for me. /sarcasm

...By the time I've had my fill of the main game, I'm sure there will be PS3 DLC already.

Yay! Congrats. Been playing it all day, incredible game. Good console choice too.

I had a moment of insecurity about my PS3 version purchase. So many friends doubting me. So many Microsoft ads. So little DLC.

Now I can rest easy. Leigh raised 3 fingers. ;-)

Enjoy!

Ben made me take another look... you do indeed appear to be giving us the reverse shocker, Leigh.

Haha. My first thought was, "Shockaaaa, biatch!" Given the context, you could almost be flashing gang signs there.

I will be playing this as soon as my Friend With A PS3 buys it.

Outrage! The World Ends With You's (YOUZE KIDS!) battle system is fantastic! I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe I've just got the right amount of twitch gamer skill and/or ADD to pay attention to both screens at once. So far I'm on what is technically the fourteenth day, and I'm playing most battles on Hard at level 15 out of ~65. Really love this game so far. (For those unaware, you can choose to fight battles at lower levels for better item drops. This also keeps fights challenging, of course.)

Leigh and others, you will perhaps be pleased to know that I spoke too soon on the main character being Generic Squaresoft Emo Hero #23 -- he actually has a change of perspective sooner in the story than I had anticipated. So it turns out that for the majority of the game, he's not very annoying or emotionally 'forced' at all.

Yes, I will probably continue to plug this game as long as I have the opportunity... :P

Fangirl!

Thanks to my Xbox 360 dying that's the version I got too though, so your bias is shrugged off.

Also, when did so many of your readers start attempting to go the lecherous, flirt-with-girl-cuz-she-plays-games-and-has-both-eyes route? Is this a side effect of the Kotaku thing?

@Scypher
You think so? I came to the conclusion that the combat mechanics sounded pretty neat when they were conceiving it, but the execution was ass.

Lack of attention is not the problem, I believe, as I can play most SHMUPS, combo-oriented fighting games and whatnot pretty well. The Pins system is nice, despite the fact that you just can't use some of them together (they just refuse to work no matter how careful you scratch the screen while being beaten horribly by the monsters), but having to now where you are hitting on the top screen AND paying attention to the patterns to make the double attack thingy is just too much. Why bother? It's a chore, not fun.

Jupiter could learn to make a game with good gameplay for once.

And sorry this became a rant.

Seems like all we can agree here is that we all like sexy games. Has anyone tried with Sharks Lagoon?

I was trying to make a "IV" ;_;

I was going to say it looked like you were throwing a gang sign, but, uh, it went to a much different place I guess...

So what swayed your decision to the PS3?

Anskiere said...

Does this mean we get your PSN name too? :p

Hope you are enjoying it, I've only gotten a few hours of play in (damn you 10 hour work days) but am liking it so far. Even though I really only bought it because my girlfriend is obsessed with the series and doesn't have a PS3/360. =)

I'm getting the PS3 version too. It's currently on its way to my house, same with my PS3. I'm late to the party, but when would be a better time to start with NEXT-GEN than now? I should be finished by the time MGS4 comes out, so there will be non-stop fun for the next 2 months at least.

Exchanging PSN names would be awesome once I'm ready.

Hm. Are you using the "SUB" setting for pins? I stopped having problems frantically getting them to work once I realized I could separate attacks with similar executions by tagging them with the SUB thing. As an added bonus I get 30+ -hit combos consistently.

In any case, I actually am having a lot of fun with the combat system. When I want to play both screens, I follow the light puck. If I only want to play touch screen, then I do. In my experience it's extremely easy to pad up with extra HP so that you don't have to babysit your partner. I don't see why it's a chore when watching the top screen is entirely optional; that's what the auto-pilot is there for.

The main reason I'm defending the battle system is that I've played it for hours and the "novelty" still has not worn off. This is rare for me, so I believe there's really something to it there.

If you're still just on the fourth day, I implore you to continue on where your character has a much better options and stats to fight with. That's where the game really picked up for me -- when I was strong enough to get perfect marks on a 4 Chain battle sequence, and then ask myself if I can do it again at Level 1 on Hard.

Of course, if you gave up on it already, that's your decision. I can definitely see what in the battle system is frustrating for you -- but it is my opinion that the mechanics are more good than bad.

It's certainly unique, to say the least.

(Sorry for hijacking your comments, Leigh!)

I also think that we can find a lot of sexy psp games on the internet, don't you think so?
