Thought I'd pass along some info I heard recently, as I know that some of you in the beloved SVGLCorps are lovely, lovely indie designers.
There's a contest on at AddictingGames to promote an action flick called "Shoot 'Em Up," hitting theaters Sept. 7th (I haven't heard about it, have you?) and they want a game to go with it:
Show us your best take on Shoot ‘Em Up. Is it a driving game? A first-person shooter? A nanny simulator? You tell us. We're looking for great gameplay that embodies the spirit of the movie.
Need more incentive? How about cash? We're giving away $9,500 in prize money, and finalists get promoted on the AddictingGames site.
You guys got somethin' you wanna submit? Check it out, then! I can barely write HTML, let alone code, and have no skill in game design nor am I ever likely to cultivate any. However, I like to think that SVGL's "best take on Shoot 'Em Up" would be a dating sim populated by dubiously-aged Japanese student athletes and Harajuku girls. Use your imagination.

Shoot 'Em Up is supposed to be a over the top, cartoonish action movie starring Paul Giamatti and Clive Owen. The trailer makes it look like a fast paced shooter with some toungue in cheek elements to it. Feel free to view said trailer here. That might serve as further inspiration.
Shoot 'Em Up Insurance Adjuster! Its your responsibility to go to all scenes of insurance claims throughout the film and try to asses liability!
They couldn't spring for the full ten grand?
How bizarre.
